EduCross ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy applies to the EduCross mobile apps (iPhone and Android), the EduCross web app at educross.app, and related services.

Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:

Contact information, such as your email address
Account information used to log in
Usage data, including quiz performance, progress, study plan, course progress and interactions within the app
App activity, such as which screen you are on and when you were last active
Device information, such as device type and operating system
Approximate location (country only), based on your network connection
A device push token, if you allow notifications
Messages you send to the EDX Educator AI tutor, if you allow AI answers
Subscription status (for example, whether Premium is active and when it renews or ends)
How We Use Information
We use the collected information to:

Provide and improve our educational services
Personalize your experience and study recommendations
Track performance and generate readiness scores
Provide AI tutor answers when you choose to use them
Send study reminders, reminders before your plan ends, and important updates about the app
Unlock Premium and course access on all your devices
Protect accounts from being shared or misused
App Activity and Approximate Location
While you use EduCross, the app records which screen you are on, your device type and when you were last active, and we note your approximate country from your network connection. We use this to show usage, keep your progress in sync and protect accounts from being shared. We do not store your IP address and do not use this information for advertising or tracking.

AI Tutor (EDX Educator)
EduCross includes EDX Educator, an optional AI tutor powered by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, PBC. The app asks for your permission before your first AI answer. If you allow AI answers, we send the following to Anthropic so it can write a reply:

your messages;
the practice question you are asking about, with its answer choices, rationale and the answer you picked;
a short study summary: your exam track, days until your exam, your weakest system, today's study plan and how many full exams you have completed.
We do not send your name or email address. Anthropic processes this information only to generate the answer and does not use it to train its AI models. Anthropic may keep it for a limited time under its own policies for safety and legal reasons.

EduCross stores how many AI answers you use each day, to apply daily limits, and any AI answer you choose to report, so we can review it. You can tap "Not now" at any time and use EDX Educator with our built-in study notes instead; then nothing is sent to Anthropic. AI answers are for study purposes only and are not medical advice.

Push Notifications
If you allow notifications on your device, EduCross saves a device push token linked to your account so we can send study reminders, app updates and announcements. Notifications are delivered through Expo and through Apple Push Notification service (iPhone) or Firebase Cloud Messaging by Google (Android). We do not use notifications for advertising from other companies. You can turn notifications off anytime in your phone's Settings → EduCross → Notifications.

Emails
We may email you reminders before your Premium or course access ends, and occasional updates about EduCross. Emails are sent through Resend. To stop update emails, reply "unsubscribe" or write to official@educross.org.

Purchases and Subscriptions
Premium subscriptions in the apps are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Web plans are processed by Wix on educross.org. These companies handle your payment details; EduCross never receives or stores your card number. We only receive your subscription status and the email linked to the purchase, so Premium can be unlocked on your EduCross account.

Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data may be processed by secure third-party services that are necessary for the app to work:

Supabase: account login and secure database
Anthropic: AI tutor answers, only if you allow AI answers
Expo, Apple and Google Firebase: app updates and push notifications
Resend: email reminders and updates
Bunny: course video streaming, for enrolled students
Apple, Google and Wix: subscription purchases
Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption and secure storage.

User Rights
You may request to access, update, or delete your personal data at any time by contacting us. You can also delete your account and its data directly in the app from your Profile.

Children's Privacy
EduCross is not intended for children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
